I think YouTube can be a very effective teaching resource if used appropriately. We can find videos on just about anything. Watching online videos uses a lot of bandwidth and therefore it might take a long time to load. There are lot of inappropriate links on the side... Teachers need to take time to see the video and download it before using it in the class. It can be downloaded and converted to a different format to burn on DVD (I use Zamzar for that) Can be done quiet easily but we have to be careful with the copyright issues.

Downloading the videos I find easiest and most reliable. That way you know it's going to work, and not have to worry about streaming issues. How's the Tech Night planning going?
ReplyDeleteI just finished thing 9. It was fun. There are a lot of great videos. I will take your advise and download and save them.

There are videos to post for teachers as well. What strategies are they implementing that there might be a video demonstration on Youtube or Teachertube?
ReplyDeleteI agree with being careful with having YouTube open while searching for a video clip. It is definately better to download and save the video beforehand to avoid students possibly seeing inappropriate material. I have an electronic white board with Notebook software that works in conjunction with the board. I like how the software wallows you to embed the video in the presentation file you are using.
